Introduction to Weight Management
Over the next several weeks, we will be doing a blog series on our weight management program and the medications that are available to help our patients achieve a healthier weight and better overall well-being. With our weight management program, we offer a comprehensive approach to weight loss, including medication management, counseling on diet and exercise, and body composition measurements.
An unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, and excess weight all lead to a substantially increased risk of developing related health problems, including type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, sleep apnea, back and joint pain, gallstones, depression, kidney disease, and obesity-related cancers. Even a modest weight loss, such as 5-10% of your body weight, can help improve these risk factors. Making changes to your diet and increasing physical activity can have a significant impact on your health. Besides improved energy and feeling better in your body, weight loss can help improve many quality-of-life factors as well.
